Though it has stood in the orchard for years it has never been the recipient of attention until the other day when Mr R A Allen of the state board of agriculture espied it and gave it a French name that at once set it down as the rarest tree in Judure Burnett's or any body Vorchard. According to Mr Allen it is a tree that grows only 111 r ranee, where it is used with wonderful success in graft ing. Fr a number of years Mr Allen has been endeavoring to grow the the tree in this country from seeds proenred in r ranee, but in each instance has met with failure. He arranged with Judge Burnett to secure this season's crop of fruit, from the seeds of which he expects to supply his orchard. mat he considers tne tree rare is illustrated bv the fact that the price to be paid for the fruit is fifty cents ier pound. How the tree happened to be flourishing in Judge Burnett s orchard is a matter of speculation. that have hung over the land. Business men do not care for differing theories of a political nature.
